S.L. Clemens letters, 1903.

Two letters, one sent by S.L. Clemens to Francis Bliss, President of the American Publishing Company in Hartford, Connecticut. The other was sent to Ward Jacobs, a banker in Hartford. The letter to Jacobs was sent from Quarry Farm (which he notes was on the telephone) in Elmira, New York. The document is a proposal to the American Publishing Company, and appears to be mentioned in the letter to Jacobs. The correspondence and document both concentrate on finances. Clemens also mentions in the letter that they have transported his invalid wife to Elmira. He wonders if Jacobs would be able to travel there, as he is not able to leave his wife.

2 letters and 1 document.
